Debris flows and debris avalanches initiation and runout susceptibility assessment in Campania region (Italy)

چکیده
Sectors of the Campania region (southern Italy), where pyroclastic airfall deposits cover carbonate slopes, have frequently experienced debris avalanches and flows. These landslides are triggered by heavy rainfall in last century caused severe destruction hundreds deaths. Their occurrence is controlled interaction several factors, both natural human induced. The initial failure linked with presence morphological discontinuities such as rocky scarps road cuts, which interrupt stratigraphical continuity an “infinite slope”. Here main criteria for susceptibility analysis defined trying to develop a procedure identify highly-susceptible sources, runout invasion areas.

Collisional Dust Avalanches in Debris Discs
We quantitatively investigate how collisional avalanches may develop in debris discs, as the result of the initial break-up of a planetesimal or comet-like object, triggering a collisional chain reaction due to outward escaping small dust grains. We use a specifically developed numerical code that follows both the spatial distribution of the dust grains and the evolution of their size-frequency...
متن کاملConcrete Debris Recycling, Environmental and Economic Effects
In this paper, first we identify the destruction ways of concrete constructions and the benefits of waste management and the plans to recycle the concrete debris were investigated and it was concluded that the existence of plans to recycle the concrete debris could lead to big economic save ups and by recycling these debris we can create affordable ways for concrete making centers. By the way, ...

The outbreak of debris flows in a reservoir region can affect the stability of hydropower stations and threaten the lives of the people living downstream of dams. Therefore, determining the hazard degree of debris flows in a reservoir region is of great importance. SPOT5 remote sensing images and digital elevation models are introduced to determine the characteristics of debris-flow catchments....
متن کاملDebris-flow susceptibility assessment through cellular automata modeling: an example from 15?16 December 1999 disaster at Cervinara and San Martino Valle Caudina (Campania, southern Italy)
On 15–16 December 1999, heavy rainfall severely stroke Campania region (southern Italy), triggering numerous debris flows on the slopes of the San Martino Valle Caudina-Cervinara area. Soil slips originated within the weathered volcaniclastic mantle of soil cover overlying the carbonate skeleton of the massif. Debris slides turned into fast flowing mixtures of matrix and large blocks, downslope...
